THINKING AGING BEYOND BORDERS
Since we think global, why shouldn’t we cross our national borders? Elderlies of the old continent and from around the world have every reason to share their experience.
«Think global » was, among other quotes, the title of the French philosopher Edgar Morin 2015’s book, inviting us to think about the complexity of the world and of a mankind with growingly intertwined individuals’ fate. The same approach can be used to imagine the future of our seniors, whether they choose to age at home, in an institution or in any other kind of housing in between. Borders between different types of housing tend to fade, institutions progressively get into home logics while homes gradually become equipped as institutions.
Compartmentalization is giving way to transversality in order to support the mutation of seniors’ ways of life. And since we think global, why shouldn’t we cross our national borders? Elderlies of the old continent and from around the world have every reason to share their experience.
But first, it is up to the professionals to take the lead on this new philosophy and its enforcement. The outreach of a group such as COLISEE, able to answer elderlies’ needs in four European countries as well as in China, cannot be assessed only in terms of market shares or any economic and financial indicator. Our vocation is to contribute to the spread of knowledge and expertise about aging, but also of know-how, good practices and key innovations, current or yet to come.
So, as a new year’s good resolution, we wish to embody more than before this state of mind by launching a new media with this international newsletter common to our residential and home care activities. Its aim? Promote our network, connect its members, offer a new aera of reflection to imagine how to support the aging to come. You will therefore find each month, in French and in English, some important topical issues regarding our economic sector, innovative initiatives from our network members, and shared experiences in the different countries where our group operates.
We hope that you will soon become faithful readers of this newsletter, you can count on us to do the utmost to make it a useful and pleasant read. At the time of this first number and at the birth of a new decade, the COLISEE group offers you its best wishes of health and success.
